Important Information

The following functions can be performed in Availity Essentials: eligibility and benefits inquiry, claims status, remittance viewer claims submission, access member ID cards, payment policies, and Payer Space.

If you are not registered with Availity Essentials, go to https://www.availity.com.

Authorizations: Please do not submit authorizations for services that are not required. If you are unsure whether an Authorization is required you can look it up with our PAL tool.

New Multifactor Authentication: Sentara Health Plans is transitioning our multi-factor authentication tool from Cisco Duo to Microsoft Authenticator to enhance our security and improve your sign-in experience. Providers must enroll in multi-factor authentication by February 25, 2026, to maintain access to our portal. Failure to do so will interrupt your ability to access our systems.
If you do not have a Sentara email address: When signing in, enter your existing Sentara username and add @sentara.com at the end. This is required only for sign-in and enrollment. Adding @sentara.com does not create a Sentara email account and does not change your current access.
